Ethical Oil TV Ad - Saudi Arabia (The ad Saudi Arabia doesn't want you to see)

Fact. Last year we bought over four hundred million barrels of oil from Saudi Arabia. We bankrolled a state that doesn't allow women to drive. Doesn't allow them to leave their homes - or work - without their male guardians' permission. And a state where a woman's testimony only counts for a half of a man's. Why are we paying their bills... And funding their oppression? Today there's a better way. Ethical oil. From Canada's oil sands. Ethical Oil. A choice we have to make.

UPDATE: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an oil rich dictatorship, has moved to censor this Canadian television ad that educates Canadian consumers about the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia and the role played by Saudi oil exports in enabling this oppression.

How soft headed do you have to be convinced that 'ethical oil' is actually about standing up for womens rights when we are headed to more than 2 (maybe 4) degree increase in global temperature causing mass extinctions, draughts, extreme weather events and famines causing death of more women (and men)?

Alberta oil facts: greenhouse gas emission are higher per barrel than Saudi Arabia. Alberta oil creates huge toxic tailing ponds. Boreal forests are strip mined. Enormous quantities of water is needed to produce the oil. Pollution is poisoning the local environment. Indigenous people in the area have contracted extremely rare forms of cancer that no one has been able to explain satisfactorily. Sound ethical?

"Ethical Oil" what a joke seriously? The premise of this argument is so asinine that at first glance I thought the onion produced this ad. Do you realize that the amount of CO2 put in the atmosphere as a result of this farcical enterprise will be enough to ensure catastrophic climate change. Guess who suffers first the poor and indigenous who are most impacted by climate change. Is it "Ethical" to cause extreme poverty and worldwide conflict over scarce resources do to climate change?
