SOMEONE I know may, or may not, have taken a brand new loaner Chevy Volt out onto the service road of a highway in Texas and floored it.

The speedometer may or may not be photoshopped to demonstrate the amount of time it takes the car to go from a complete stop up to 80mph.

  • ps the caption is wrong. The Volt is not a hybrid. In a true hybrid, the car would have imediately switched to gas when the pedal was mashed. That is why the prius is slightly faster ina 0-60 than the Volt. The Volt is all electric, the Prius is not. This technology has been around for years. Diesel locomotives are not really diesel. They are diesel/electric. The diesel generator provides voltage to the electric motors which run the train. Same as the Volt.

  • @rsfamer 10 minutes? I used a stop watch. 0 to 65 in just under 10 seconds. Are you sure you aren't just a little biased? Just a little? I drove Caddys for over 30 years. I know the difference between a golf cart and a nice car. My Volt is a nice car. I've had about 35 VERY positive reactions from my riders. Not one bad one. Hmmmmmm. Just a little?

  • Not bad for a high priced golf cart! Decent performance if you have ten minutes or so to 'hum-m-m' up to traffic speed.

  • ~16 secs

  • VERY NICE!

  • neat
