Up until the 1930's was fluoride discharged directly into the air and waterways, causing great damage. Lawsuits were mounting as people figured out that their health problems were caused by fluoride exposure. The industry's response was to change the public's perception of fluoride.

Many 'scientific' studies were presented to convince the public that fluoride was safe. 80% of my town voted against having fluoride put into our water but the NSW government still went ahead and put it in anyway. So far there seems to be absolutely no way to make them accountable or to get that decision reveresed - especially since they spent 5 million dollars building the fluoride plant to do so.
