filipinos (and the catholic church) always blame the gov’t and its corrupt officials and politicians (who are majority catholics themselves). they focus on opposing good gov’t programs instead of teaching lessons to their corrupt catholic men in the government. isn't the catholic church herself to blame? (pls be informed that catholic church is the no.1 beneficiary of the PHILIPPINE CHARITY SWEEPSTAKES OFFICE.)

majority of filipinos are talented, skilled and hard-working people. what makes the philippines poor is their religious belief (majority are catholics) that promotes population growth (from the bible: "go forth and multiply..."). the church is against family planning, birth control, etc. the catholic bishops conference of the philippines is against many government programs creating job opportunities. although i consider myself a catholic, i already left the catholic church years ago.

Catholicism in the Philippines is corrupt and the gov't there is the same.  It doesn't help that majority of the population over there aren't educated enough to know the real truth and see through all the BS Catholic Bishop and it's minions say and the same goes with the politicians.

I agree, a lot of government officials, and the priests in the catholic church are just totally ignoring the cycle of poverty that poor families have. Generally poor men drink, when they drink, they want sex without using their upper head, then the poor housewife will just give birth to so many kids, unable to have her tubes tied, buy contraceptives like pills, or even condoms. The phil catholic church do not see the kids living on the strees, families with so many small kids on the streets!

Lets not forget that the sex trade is also near Manila in the cities of Angeles and Subic being a left over biproduct of the Militaty years the U.S had their bases there. I've been the the Philippines and believe you can make a living, and feed your familys in the provinces with just a little land, and that is the dream I guess, until they get stuck in the slums and in a cycle of poverty.

while I agree with the other comments about the church, I also believe the Filipino are to blame also. Many are ignorant of the things we know, follow the belief that you need to migrate to a city to find your fortune. :( People have always moved to the city to find work, but in this case it just does not work. There are some jobs, but they are poor paying and the prices in Manila are higher than in other areas of the Philippine.

we never stops complaining against our government in Ireland but there are lots of people out there living worst than animals.. I would be better of to be an Irish than living this way.. cheers..
