This is the beginning of a journey, where Tom Roe drives to mount Pinatubo (a long extinct volcano, awakened from its slumber) in the Philippine Islands. Tom speculates on how soon this mountain will erupt. Little does he know that his predictions are about to come true.

  • Sorry about the sound on this video but it was an old 8mm analog video tape, and those things don't hold up very well. Especially after they've been exposed to volcanic ash.

  • I remember Mt Pinatubo when it erupted. I was 10 years old playing with my friends in front of my house. All of a sudden we notice a cloud forming into a big mushroom. in less than an hour, the day turns into pitch black, with ash and volcano rock rains with earthquakes. It was very scary. I was scared and confused at the same time. We got on our family jeep and evacuated away from the volcano. We survived but most of my relatives lost their holmes. It was a unique and memorable experiance.

  • Wow, great comment. I wish more people would post their memories of this very fascinating moment in Philippines history. Thanks!

  • This was a few weeks before Mt. Pinatubo erupted.

  • that year was a miracle!!! two disaster collided, the storm and the eruption of Mt Pinatubo. If the storm did not come, the ashes would have burn most of the places, i think it is God's plan. The Phillipinos are very blessed in sense that only a small number of victims died. It was something like in the bible, Moses brought his people to Israel, here the people were brought to safety.... Thank God and praise Him
