can i use tivo only to record shows on tv without having to pay any money, can i buy one and use it strictly as video recorder. im hearing the word subscription, that would make sense to to pay 300 dollars for something and them have to pay them to record shows on it.

Idiotic sky+ fanboys don't even realise that Tivo did all what sky+ does back in 1999. Sky based sky+ on some of Tivos features. If it wasn't for Tivo, you wouldn't have Series Link thats an inferior version of Tivo's Season Pass.

Its really sad when you get ill-informed people spouting off in, they just make themselves look arses.

Do yourselves a favor and do a bit of research before you make idiotic postings, sky+ is just copycat hardware not the amazing innovation you thought!
