  • I worked a Monotype caster in the 80s when I first started work when they were almost at the end of any sort of useful lives. Labour intensive, smelly, dirty, noisy, dangerous... yeah fascinating to watch like this, hypnotic and as you say Victorian and early 20th C mechanics at its very best, but believe me, you'd be on your knees begging for InDesign/Quark Xpress within minutes of using this thing!
