Very rare Velours 45. The only one rarer than this is Romeo, also on the Onyx label. The reason for the center hole chip is that someone put one of those metal center discs in the record. The person that owned the record before me made the mistake of removing it by hand and the center hole broke. Regardless, it's a rare record and a treasure to have in any condition.

  • scratchy vinyl rocks!

  • I have a love-hate relationship with scratchy vinyl. Sometimes it can sound beautiful and sometimes it can drive me nuts. A well worn record like this can be enjoyable to listen to, but something that was played with a bad needle is hard for me to listen to

  • This, there first song, released in '56 which I first heard some 40 years later when a DJ in Orlando, Sal-T played it. Wonderful song and thanx for sharing PJ. My favorite by the Velours will always be, "Can I Come Over Tonight"

  • "Can I Come Over Tonight" is a phenominal record, but my favorite is "This Could Be The Night"

  • I'll have to see if I can find it. Never heard it before. Thanks for the tip

  • @PJDooWop

The Spector version is arguably better than the Dixie Cups. I heard it once on youtube. I just can't think of which group did it.

  • Thank you. The only version of "Chapel of Love" I know is by The Dixie Cups but I wasn't aware of any Phil Spector involvement on that one. It wouldn't surprise me if one of Spector's groups cut it also

  • @PJDooWop

I'd say you're further along than most people twice your age. Have that single by one of Phil Spector's girl groups who did Going to the Chapel of Love?

  • Thanks PJ

  • Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me at all. A shame I have to wait until I'm 70 to see this if the prediction is right
