- If people believe in the superior translation of the KJV, the best thing to do is write a more accurate translation than the NIV in modern collegiate English.

- There is no point in preserving verb tenses like "goest" or "knowest", which are not taught in any modern textbook. You may feel comfortable with these verb tenses, but they are not modern English. May God give us the ability to speak in the tongues of the people we're trying to reach.

a few things to keep in mind:

- the original Bible was originally written in non-English languages

- The KJV was translated for English speaking people around the early 1600's. English language is not constant. In ancient times English speaking people had another alphabet, so ancient English speaking people could not read the KJV. God is not requiring us to keep an English alphabet and language as Muslims think Arabic is required to be a constant.

- As unlikely as it seems let's say in 2050 the English speaking world universally decided to adopt another alphabet. I'm living in a country which changed its alphabet 2-3 times in the last 100 years. The KJV or the NIV would be reaching almost nobody.

- NIV is more modern language that people speak on a college campus, not 1600's English

- I think its best to point out where the NIV is a poor translation from the original language. If it is under the influence of people with evil spirits, then by all means point it out.

- I appreciate the work of the KJV translators. The Bible is translated into many languages. The point is not to preserve a human language destined to change.

You cant trust the bible AT ALL,
it was a fireside book of myth to start with
and it has been degraded steadily ever since.
It is so vague, so internally inconsistent,
so filled with scientific and historical error
and so many contradictions
that it is totally worthless for any sort
of instruction or moral guidance.
