Absolutely BRILLIANT !!! I made one the other day, unfortunately could find no bird feeder, so made my own with bird wire, & some plumbing bits, & skipped the teastrainers. Very cleaver, very simple, well done, & a great little video too. Some wind noise did come thru, so will be adding some finely woven cloth over the frame. By the way your voice is just fine
Hi..the stainless steel strainer just clips onto the feeder so that's how my mic in inserted and removed..there is a slot at the bottom of the cage for the cable to exit so the end sieve cap can still fit on ..hasn't fallen off yet!!!
Yes the handle is fixed justy thru the mesh using a bolt and a large pancake washer..some hardwares call them mudguard washers too..simply a big washer with a small hole..you can also just use a piece of aluminium plate and drill a hole in it.

Actually only the front strainer is glued on!! The back strainer slides neatly over the mesh and can be removed at anytime so you can take the mic out which is necessary for changing batteries etc etc.

I was actually brought up in Rhodesia (which is now Zimbabwe) but my parents were born in South Africa and I did live there for a while so that's probably the accent you here!! I have never professed to have a decent voice (wish I did !!!) but someone had to do the narration!!

How do you get the mic out, once you have it in there?

Hi
The green end caps just pull off complete with the "tea strainer" caps that are glued on so you can easily remove the mic at any time. As the base unit is a wild bird feeder the caps are made to be removed so you can fill the feeder with seeds.
