Time Away (Part 1). Recorded in 1973 and partially included on Koss' solo album. Koss, John Martyn and other musicians got together to cover another song; the recording session took a totally different direction, resulting in "Time Away".
Amazing depth and ambience.
John Martyn was also friends with Nick Drake, another incredible musician.

The 18 min. version was first released in 2000 on the box set "Free -Songs of Yesterday".
The complete 38 minute jam (featuring Leslie warmup) was released in 2008 Kossoff - Back Street Crawler

Photos of Kossoff as he grew to became
one of the U.K's best guitarists.
The book "Heavy Load - Free" gives the complete story of Kossoff and Free.....

  • Each note of Paul is an ocean of feeling...

    Beyond compare

  • Loved for this very reason.

  • This is amazing. I am supposed to be up early in the morning and I cannot stop playing it, and there is part 2 yet!

    thanks, great posting.

  • Ur welcome. Koss at his creative best.

  • is this on an album?

    is the album still avaible?

  • I recently found the entire jam, all 38mins. Check out the Deezer website, if you want to listen. It's bliss.

  • Just to clarify the previous point, Paul would often play his guitar via a LESLIE SPEAKER(and this is the guitar effect you are hearing on this track), more commonly used with Hammond organs.

  • holy shit koss and jm too great players small hours/time away magic!! cheers made ne cry this koss rip x
