Van Gogh and Dickinson are dust. Art cannot be purified, but it is not timeless, and while there is inspiration, one mans gods are another's contemporaries. Eyes of the beholder, subjective hence on. We are lead by our desires in all that we do (which is the center of the world of words) whether we know what we are doing or not. Just my two cents, not a big deal.

I still feel you miss the point. Wax philosophical/poetic all you wish, it does nothing to make disappear the work of artists and poets of the past. They are remembered and revered among people today. I posed the questions how and why. Again, remarking that they are in fact of the ground does not mean people will forget them or the work they created. Being lead by desire whether we know it or not, seems a sentimental way of saying people do what they want. To which I reply, what of conditioning?

A true poet has stuffed envelopes with feelings inside. The classics you admired are all but dust. Only a living man with all his desires can break a new trail in the world of words.
Thanks for sharing.

I feel you look to disagree or frequently misinterpret the point. What of Van Gogh or Dickinson, both masters of their respective crafts, yet neither knew greatness until after death. Inspiration, greatness, and the power to move, easily transcend the grave and that is worth revering . As for blazing a new trail, it's much easier to carve a new path by learning how from others. All the desire in the world will get you nowhere if you do not know what you are doing.
