i just put a new nut on a teisco silvertone with a roller saddle and i wanna know the best saddle hieght. the guitar looks like its in rough shape and its not staying in tune

Since the bridge isn't adjustable, have you thought about replacing the it with a Compton Custom Compensated Bridge?
I'm just curious because, the next time I come across a guitar like that in such great condition, I think I may do that.

not too bad---its a piece of shit guitar--always was and age won't change that--effects can make any piece of crap sound some what decent----

I had one in High School back in 77 to 78.That mother had four pick-ups each with it on switch. If I turn on all four it had the meanest distortion. One day it disappeared.I miss that mug.

Does it stay in tune with the whammy?

For the most part, yes. It has less play than a bigsby-style tremolo, so it doesn't do much, but it still works relatively well.
