@28quelita Because the US always has better veteran Senior skaters and more depth then the Russians usually have. Simple as that.

@dsfddsgh: I haven't seen anymore american female skaters yet of the 12-13 age range except Naomi top older girls in a senior national championships. Naomi is the only US skater that has medaled at 13 in a senior nationals,how many 13 year old russians are competing as seniors in their national senior championships and obtaining
top 3 spots in the podium and have medaled at ISU events at age 13? More than 1.

@28quelita Because the US always has a lot more depth in Ladies skating then the Russians have. When A 13 year old IS medaling at Nationals it usually means your top older girls are not that good.

How come Russia has many 13 year old female figure skaters compete in the
senior level that medal in their nationals and the U.S. hasn't had any
13 year old senior female skater win or at least get third place in the
U.S. championships?

@fliptopla Even if she didn't get injured i'm not sure how good Naomi would have been. She grew like 5 inches the next year and wasn't the cute precocious skater that she was here. The growth spurt alone may have done her in like it does so many young skaters. She definitely did have presence and charisma on the ice thought that's for sure.

She must have scared the you know what out of MIchelle that year. I remember Dick Button comparing her to Michelle in the leg position of the spins. She used portions of Michelle's old music here too!
Too bad she got injured, Naomi could have given Michelle and others a run for their money!

Wonderful performance..too bad injuries and growth halted her career...she was special.
God, I miss Dick and Peggy's commentary.
