Lightning Storm - July 23 2008

A short clip from a pretty solid thunderstorm and tornado warning that we had in SE Massachusetts on July 23, 2008. The lightning strike at the 4:25 mark (which knocked me back about 4 feet from where I had been shooting) hit a house about half a mile away.

I remember this very well. I was at an outdoor concert festival in Mansfield. They actually had to put the festival on hold while this happened and move everyone into the pavillion. Definitely one of the scariest / wettest weather experiences I've ever had. It was cool to see it from someone else's perspective.

I recall when i lived in St. Petersburg Fla. and we were having a tropical storm and it was bad, anyway my neighbor she was visiting and was getting ready to leave and was standing by my door with her hand on the doorknob while it was lightning and telling me she was going home to take a shower, those Floridians are brave-lol..i warned her about the risk and her response was really, she was clueless?..

where in SE mass? im in whitman. i remember all the tornado warnings and the whole thing was heading up to this area...little too close for comfort

I get a kick out of the woman telling you that you should probably get away from the window, lol! Great footage. I'm up in almost in the nw part of MA and these storms this year are crazy. I'll bet the lightning in your vid was worse than what we see - I tape lots of storms and it seems like when I play them back they never look as bad on-screen as they really did and a lot of the lightning strikes/flashes never seem to show up.

I live in an area that was not under tornado warning but I live very close to that area.

i live in taunton and its so different from watching tornado footage on here and having the possibility of a real tornado occurence, soooo exciting n scary..
