Clyfford Still - "images to become shapes" 1904 1980 was an
American painter, and one of the leading figures of Abstract
Expressionism. He was one of the foremost "color field" painters and a
leader in the first generation of Abstract Expressionists who developed
a new, powerful approach to painting in the years immediately following
World War II.
