Ryan of OldMusicOnVinyl1 says:
I was originally intending this to be a post in my Mysterious Canadian Artists series, because a quick, one-page Google for "Inner Sanction" pulled up nothing about the group, but, after further research, I discovered that this group included Don Coleman, who is still producing music today! If you don't know who Don Coleman is, he's a terrific singer/keyboardist from Toronto whose musical career has spanned more than 25 years. He formed a band named Zzyzx in 1983; soon their name would change to Inner Sanction, and they released several EP's. Firstly, they did it on cassettes, they switched over to 7"ers, and finally a 12" 45 rpm maxi. Don's YouTube channel is named donvalleydon. Go over and check it out!

On my copy of this EP, the cover was signed by George Miranda with the following:

"Debbie & Mike
Best of Luck!
G M"

Debbie and Mike were two of George's old friends who owned the record previously. Also marked in the deadwax of side 2 are the sayings "I love SW" and "I love CH". "SW" is Sonja Walma, who was Don Coleman's girlfriend at the time, and "CH" is Cheryl Hauraney, who was George Miranda's girlfriend at the time.

Also, note that Don Coleman would later go on to be an AC/DC tribute vocalist. His song, "Women, Whiskey and Rock 'n' Roll", is a tribute to Bon Scott, and was featured on AC/DC's official website from January 2008 to April 2010. Also, "Loud, Hard, Fast and Wild" is a tribute to another Canadian rock band, particularly Moxy, also featured on their own website. His songs, including those with Inner Sanction, have received airplay in more than 126 countries, and he was the opening act for Nazareth during their 2010 tour in Canada.

    Appreciate your kind words!

If I am the king you are the "Emperor"

    Miles of Smiles.....

  • Slays me when I hear Don doing this real 80's Gowen-esque style compared to what he's doing now. Then again, if you had my old records, Don would say I was Canada'a answer to Trio I suppose. LOL Great stuff, and nice video to preserve it all with.Kudos Ryan. You're the king Don!

Vinyl Rules and so do you.....

  • Thanks for sharing my video on your channel, Don! I very much appreciate it.

Best wishes for continued success in your future musical endeavours,

    Ryan
