Health Minister Ann Keen visits Trafford General Hospital in Manchester. 60 years ago Nye Bevan came to the hospital - to visit the first NHS patient to be treated following Labour's founding of the NHS.

  • God bless Nye Bevan. Without his inspiration the NHS would not exist and if that was the case I probably would not be here to write this! The cancer treatment I received 8 years ago was superb. Thank you Mr Bevan!

  • Labour were the guardians of the NHS, but in the last 10 years or so they've undermined some of its core principles, most notably its public status. There is a growing trend toward the involvement of private services and practices and this is undermining quality of care for patients and undermining the core principles of the NHS.

  • proud of the NHS, you lot make me laugh,if your so proud of the NHS then why are you closing my hospitals.
