@streamlinedtrains The train is the doppler and the observer is the dopplee. One who mimics the doppler is a doppelgänger and the art of creating a dopple is called doppling.
You can't stop a doppler from doppling properly but you can stop a doppelgänger from doppling the dopplee.

@phillyslasher but at double the cost ;)

WOW... That doppler effect was pretty big... a whole perfect 5th of dopple! Dopplage? Doppleness? Dopplability? Dopplitudinosity?

@phillyslasher NYC to ATL in 5 hours would be great. I'd never ever fly that route again unless it was for a connecting flight.

@glitch4465 NEC stands for Northeast Corridor and CHI stands for Chicago

@phillyslasher At least we don't have suicidal sheep that cause train accidents here, you obnoxious twit.
-
@MrZkr123 Whats NEC and CHI?
Im jealous of the Acela Express, a high speed train on totally normal track, we tried that in Britain but it was wrecked when they privitisaed the system in the 90s.

@glitch4465 I think everyone's right in this scenario, yes HSR most likely does only work in 200-500miles it would work better in an area not as congested as the NEC I believe it would work better for going from NY to CHI or California areas that have further space between stops and not as many commuter rail services.
Sorry America can't be like France and develop a wicked awesome train like the TGV, but unfortunately being a Super Power steals all of your time :p In the USA, I think highspeed rail will only work as a regional transport. The country is too damn big to think about having trains race cross-country. Let's face it, even if a HST can get you from New York to Atlanta in 5 hours at an average speed of 180 MPH it doesn't really matter. A Boeing 737 will do it in less than half the time every time.
