@503 No, too many pushups does not make your shoulders big like a man. Men have a lot of testosterone, therefore they can build bigger muscles. We have a smidgen of testosterone so we can only build smaller muscles. I always aim for at least 10 pushups, times 2 sets. Good luck!

@Starbodies This explanation isn't going to help cuz most women see bodybuilder women and get scared they will look huge by lifting heavy weight or any weights for that matter. Tell them to also be scared to throw the baseball with their son in the yard or they might accidentally start throwing at 90 mph and break windows all over the neighborhood and become a pro baseball pitcher.

@realeyz That's a good analogy. Thanks! :) Ladies, do not be afraid to lift weights. I lift as heavy as I can, and this is as big as I can get. You see, men have a large amount of testosterone, therefore they can get big and bulky. We women have a smidgen of testosterone, therefore we can not get big like a man, thank goodness. Those big bulky women in the magazines may very well supplement large amounts of testosterone, if you know what I mean.

how long will it take to learn a decent push up ( with toes instead of knees) ?

To build the muscle strength to do a push-up on your toes, there is no set time frame. But you can build your muscles up by even just doing the negative part of the push-up. This means, even if you can't push yourself back up with your arms, do the negative (going down to the floor) as slowly as possible. Then get your body back up in the push-up position on your toes, and work yourself back down as slowly as you can to the floor again. Do this over and over, until you can do a full push-up.
