There has to be a story on why he hates graphic artists so much....maybe he lost his first love to a more charming graphic artist or he tried to become a graphic artist and realized it was too hard so he decided to quit and just stick to reading stuff off of a moving tv screen...sounds a lot easier not as much work

To each his own. Comic Sans wil be used for whatever situations best suited for it. I will never understand what all the hate concerning this font is about. If you don't enjoy the sight of this font- turn your head. If you do... then use it when necessary... what is the big deal? I'm sure there are more important things to think about where Graphic Design is concerned than, how wretched Comic Sans is.. No?

Such a tired cliche 'don't use comic sans'... I mean really, haven't designers got anything better to do than moan about amateurs using Comic Sans? My Mum uses Comic Sans for her kids class hand-outs because it is 'easy to read' for them and mimics the way people actually write the letter 'a' in handwriting. As a graphic designer I should 'whince' at this and moan at my Mum to find a better one. Well, you know what? My Mum is not a designer, she does not need to be one, end of matter.

He knows they are necessary for many industries. 20/20 isn't on PBS. Its livelihood depends on ratings, and industries without a lot of controversy or eye-popping stories don't get a lot of time. I'd love to see a 1 hour news special on software engineers but it's not going to happen. Few people would watch it and it would flop. Stupid movies like "Hackers" are what make money. Would you rather watch that? Or watch a video of me sitting at my computer writing database queries in SQL?

I got an A.A. in Graphic Design, then I realized I wasn't interested in living with that kind of risk so I got a B.S. in Computer Science.

Stossel's point here is that it was silly for this person to ask 20/20 to do a story on graphic design. It's not a particularly scandalous or controversial industry. We all know designers are necessary for marketing and aesthetic pleasantness. Should 20/20 do a story on computer programmers? Who would watch it? Graphic designers certainly wouldn't.

Why doesn't 20/20 do a piece on accountants? Have fun running a business without one. Architects? Engineers? Astrophysicists? Et cetera. The complaint by the graphic designer was just idiotic.
