She was a kid then. She's now 54.
I think she looks good for her age.

@caitlinjane92 OOOOH, aren't you envious and spiteful??

@yakidk89 Thanks for filling me in- I thought I was having memory problems
( old age) the other day- for when the girls first descend the stairs to have breakfast, I'm sure I remember them blowing kisses to Mam'selle as she stood on the landing, but this was not shown, and I honestly thought my brain was deteriorating on me! The Foxtel version also omitted where they're in church singing Rock of Ages. AND the scene where Irma thanks Albert for saving her. WHY?? Damn them!

@newfful She looks good full-stop.

Thank you for this! she is so elegant, beautiful. I like her talking. I can hardly get to see her in Japan, so thrilled to see this program!
Saw this recently on Foxtel, ( for the 5000th time) and noticed that the lovely scene where Mike rows Irma on the lake has been deleted. Does anyone know why?

@Quatorzel4 The director's cut from 1998 actually cut out 8 minutes of the original print. You probably saw this cut version. These days it is the more common version as that was the version released on DVD.

@yakidk89 8 MINUTES??? THE BUTCHER!! Why on earth was it done? I saw Picnic when it was first released, and thought it needed nothing to improve it.

@Quatorzel4 Exactly. Even Anne Lambert in the documentary on the DVD says she didn't believe that is should have anything deleted from it because so much time had past since its production to have made it a classic in a lot of people's eyes. ie, Your exact feelings.
Even worse, the cut version is the one that got mastered for DVD release.

No offense, but Anne looked a lot prettier at the time she did the movie than she does now.

@caitlinjane92 No offence, but I'm sure you were a lot prettier 30 years ago too.
