    Brilliant, obviously. Shame that he lost all control over production when he sold out his interest to MGM. MGM was a "factory" that worked on a tight schedule/budget and they had no interest in improvisational/experimental comedy such as Keaton's. Keaton said himself that he never worked from a script but just ideas & gags & built stories around them: humble assessment. Chaplin was smart/rich enough to have his own studio with absolute control over his own work.
