No, apparently the old dragon was nicknamed Bucky because cast members thought that it looked it had buck teeth...At least that's what I hear.

"Murphy" is a nickname that some cast members and guests give the dragon. Its after "murphy's law". Since this dragon had technical problems which delayed its debut.
The old dragon was nicknamed Bucky.
