@mustwinder You know when you mentioned Walken and Deer Hunter - I couldn't help to notice that both of these stories take place in Pennsylvania. (If I'm not mistaken).

A very moving movie from the 80's, Iv'e watched it so many times, one of the best opening scenes ever. Great acting and a classic. Thanks for posting.

@4hmarcie live to tell was written for this movie, and Madonna was definitely the right choice to do the vocals .. I'm pretty sure that live to tell was nominated for an award.

By far one of the most underrated movies. These performances were worthy of Oscar nominations. The soundtrack is haunting and riveting, as is Madonna's Song "Live to Tell", which is my favorite of hers. Though this movie has a slow pace to it compared with those of today, I never get bored watching it, due to its powerful human element.
