  • WONDERFUL! You've given this song a fantastic performance. YES!

  • Doris Day is such a guilty pleasure for me, I was always too embarrassed to say that I loved her song and repertoire. Melinda channelling Doris in this way celebrates them both.

  • @wadjela - It is weird, we don't judge people so much about say their taste in food or clothes, but we really feel free to give them a hard time about their taste in music. I am not sure what music does, except that it helps me to feel and be transported for a time, and I just love that.

We should all be free to love the music we love.

  • Wonderful, it's here.

I have a bit of resistance to country music, but artists such as Melinda really help to challenge that - and of course I adore Doris Day, and watching them again since hearing this on Breakfast has caused me to realise how much subtext there was in her performances. She is very funny, and Melinda has brought me back to her anew. I like that Melinda tries not to copy Doris's voice and overdo it - it is her vocal restraint that is the strength of this song. Fran's great.

A while back there was a competition on Breakfast to guess Fran's first record. I was thinking serious intelligent music for a seriously intelligent woman, like the Doors or Joplin. When it was revealed as the Bee Gees I felt liberated, it was OK to like music that some consider a bit daggy. So I love Doris too, and Melinda's performance is great.

  • 'Friends of Doris' ! You bet, onya Fran.

This was great and upbeat and a fabulous nod to the great Doris Day.
