This is a lesson on the basics of rhythm guitar playing.

Some of the topics covered are drum beats, timing, and what to listen for when playing along with drums.

I suggest learning easy power metal songs to practice changing chords quickly and sharply to make your playing sound tight and on beat.

  • can you suggest song songs to try learning for someone who's just getting into metal rhythm?

are there any good free resources on the net that can help?

  • @anormantheman Sure, try some Metallica. Specifically For Whom The Bell Tolls to learn your rhythm. Don't just play the song. Play it exactly on time and play it perfectly. It's an easy song, but it's difficult to play any song and make it sound clean. Once you get that one down, move on to Battery.

  • so is there a different guitar you to get for a rhythm guitar or is it the same as regular guitar?

  • @XxLowXProfilexX It's not a different guitar. It's just a different role.

  • @XxLowXProfilexX You can use any guitar you want to play rhythm guitar. Rhythm guitar is not a physical guitar. It is something you play on any guitar. You can also play lead on any guitar you want.

  • Then what is the difference between a rhythm guitar and a lead guitar?

  • @Fallst4d Well it's just the style of playing. Rhythm is the backing to a solo.
