As for the arguement that Obama wants oil prices to increase...pure nonsense as nothing hits the average Americans budget harder and faster than rising gas prices and it does serious damage to any presidents approval numbers. Oil speculation should be banned [ and Harry Reid wants this investigated asap] and Big Oil companies, who record record profits when the price goes up, should no longer get tax payer subsidies and be taxed at a higher rate, the revenues going directly to consumers.

Oil production has increased since Obama took office and oil consumption in the US has dropped as well, which puts the lie to the internal supply and demand arguement. Oil specualtors [ super rich hedge fund types] increase the cost of a gallon of gas by 10 percent, which right now amounts to appx 40 cents a gallon. And by putting too much pressure on Iran, as The Republicans want to do, we are risking oil prices well over 8.00 a gallon.
