Goa's been a territory of Portugal for more than 500 years, and been part of India for less than a century. We never had any plans to evade from Portugal, Indians invaded Goa. Unlike the rest of India, who were under the bitter rule of the British, we weren't. Viva la Goa.

My wife in from India (Punjabi) she now speaks fluent Portuguese. :) Love India.

But the Vatican had other plans from what my i hear, Portuguese tried to hold many enemies at bay (Arabs, Other colonial powers, Even the Vatican..) to co-exist peacefully with their people(Goans).
