  • @cassandra1995h they do. check ur facts. they die in infancy...like 4 yrs max

  • @lamiac2411 thats something else believe me. tay sachs victims die in infancy. they dont even hit 10 yrs of age and they usually display mental retardation symptoms

  • My step father suffers from this horrible mind numbing disease. He displayed the first symptoms in his early 20's. His legs gave out suddenly for no reason. He was initially told he may have Lu Garigs disease with only months to live. He later was diagnosed with this. Adult onset. He was still only given a year to live. Stupid ass doctors he has been alive for 9 years now. However he may be near an end as his kidneys are beginning to shut down:(

  • @fatblackcat101 You are giving accurate facts but in a wrong interpretation. The video talks about a carrier, but you are talking about how many born babies will actually have the disease. Since it's a recesive autosomal disorder a persona can be a carrier but not have the disease

  • Nice video bro!

  • Also, the carrier rate within the video is off. Outside of the Ashkenazic population, the carrier rate is one out of every 400,000, and withing the population, it is one out of every 3,600. (micheal Alan Park, Biological Anthropology, 2010 pg. 392)

  • the children die between the age of 3 and six, generally before they turn 4. Also, the increased risk within the Ahkenazi Jewish population, is due to a phenomena called the founder effect. (wiki it) The Heyerozygous trait (lets call it Tt) is the carrier trait of the disease, while the homozygous form of it (tt) is the actual disease. If the form (TT) is found, then the individual is not infected, nor are they a carrier. Only the homozygous, recessive trait is expressed.

  • It's alpha-hexosaminidase.. not beta hexosaminidase

  • Great information... the overview is comprehensive.

  • Check ur facts before you make a video. I know for sure the kids dont die between age 1-2.
