Macau 28-08-07: Asia's largest integrated resort, The Venetian Macao, is now officially open - ushering in a new chapter in the history of Macau.

Hong Kong star Alan Tam and American legend Diana Ross were among the stars at the opening ceremony - held in the 15,000-seat Venetian Arena.

World-renowned Cirque du Soleil also created a special performance for the event -- in the run-up to having a permanent show here - in the 1800-seat Venetian Theatre.

With a price tag of 2.4 billion US dollars, the Italian Renaissance themed Venetian Macau is now the world's second largest building, with convention and exhibition halls, entertainment venues, indoor canals, shops, restaurants and a hotel with 3,000 all-suite guest rooms. Not to mention the 550,000 square-foot ground level casino floor, which itself is now the largest in the world, with 870 tables and over 3,400 slot machines...

The star-studded evening of entertainment -- is just the beginning of what Macau can expect in the years to come. Thanks largely to people like Sheldon Adelson, Macau is at a turning point -- setting new standards for luxury, shopping and entertainment -- and redefining the future of tourism for this region.

Odds are -- this is a sure bet.

  • @SweetlySammie macau can be spelled different ways, just like how you can pronounce "caribbean" in different ways

  • great hotel, great deals for this hotel can be found at MacaoCenter on the web

  • @SweetlySammie Macau can be spelled either Macau or Macao. "Macau" is the Portuguese way of writing, "Macao" is what english-speaking-countries decided was the correct way of writing, where in fact both spellings are perfectly acceptable in English.

  • You must have G.P.S. if you're alone..Venetian hotel in Macau is another trademark of success.. Such a big, wide, largest hotel i ever seen... Huuuaaaaaaahh!
