Souls Of Mischief on Soulja Boy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne + their Top 10 G.O.A.T

SoulCulture.TV caught up with Souls Of Mischief in London last month and the discussion turned to the frequently debated subject of The Greatest rappers Of All Time.

"What's your criteria? Who made the most money or who has the most skills?" In this mini roundtable discussion, Opio and Phesto discuss the flaws of corporate lists - such as MTV's - and the variety of factors one should consider when assessing The Greatest Of All Time, and Tajai insists (contrary to Baby's recent comments, "How can you be the best if you don't make the most money?") that innovation is the most important factor. Then he puts it out there - "Name one thing Jay-Z or Lil Wayne brought to Hip Hop that's new? ...They brought nothing new to Hip Hop. Zero." - before giving his own Top 10 G.O.A.T list.

Please don't get me twisted (This is Tajai) Jay, Em, 3 Stacks, Nas, Lord Finesse etc. etc. are all in my top 20 +, but this was a personal list based on personal criteria for greatness. It would be hard to agree or understand if you did not experience these dudes first-hand when they dropped. They are people who completely rearranged the game. In addition, I fully respect anyone (MC etc.) who gives of themselves to advance this game and enlighten. Many I will never get the chance to hear.

I respect Souls but come on...Jay belongs in the top ten...Thats why they never name their ten, they only list off like 5...cuz they honestly know that if they really come up with ten, Jigga will be in it.

As a person that has watched many of these 'top 5' lists by emcees--ranging from G Rap to Jay Z--I can honestly say that,true to form,Souls Of Mischief are easily the most thoughtful critics of best rapper criteria.

Indeed,Tajai shames even most 'old school' emcees' G.O.A.T. lists by mentioning the likes of Melle Mel.

It's truly revealing of ones' rap IQ when they don't even CONSIDER the likes of originaters like Coke la Rock,Grandmaster Caz,Kool Moe D or Rammellzee,etc., for their lists.
