@WarriorLaurie .... Sissy Spacek worked diligently with Loretta Lynn before the movie was made and through filming. As Loretta said in an interview on the DVD, she would sing the lyrics, then Sissy would come up behind her (repeating what Loretta just sang); Sissy Spacek got so good at imitating Loretta Lynn that people couldn't tell where Loretta left off and Sissy picked up. There's a video of these two wonderful ladies performing at the Grand Ole Opry in 1979. It's pretty impressive.
