Chapter 1 ~Melissa's POV~

I was running.
Running from who?
Running from home. I told Ashley I couldn't take his abuse anymore. I told her I was leaving. The pavement was slippery underneath me and the rain soaked my pajamas. Damn, this rain was slowing me down. What city was I in? I stopped for a second, panting. I looked at my watch. 12:30am, I had been running for 3 and a half hours. I took down my braid, letting my hair out, wet and floppy. Wherever I was, it was a lot quieter than Brooklyn. I studied the purple and blue bruises on my arms and I started to tear up. No! No more crying. I started running faster.
"Oh..." I moaned. That was a bad idea. The blood started rushing to my head and I was dizzy. I looked up and saw headlights. I couldn't move. The car smacked into me and I screamed as I hot the ground. Dazed, I heard the car screech out. I screamed.
"Help me!" I couldn't move anymore. I smelled the metallic blood rushing from my head.
I had to be sitting for a good ten minutes when I saw a man walking down the street.
"Hey, mister, please help me!" I cried. I was in agony and I wished someone would just find me already. He caught me out the corner of his eye and rushed over.
"Lookie, here." he smiled.
"What the hell is so funny? Take me to a hospital, please!"
He looked with evil eyes. " I don't think I will."
"Wha-"
He smiled. "What do you think?" he rubbed my leg.
"Oh, god, you pervert, just help me!"
Just then I saw a bus headed straight for us. The man bolted, as the bus didn't slow down. They didn't see me lying in the crosswalk. This was the end. I was probably better off with the rapist.
