Video filmed with onboard camera on a streamliner racing in the critirium race at the IHPVA World championships. On the final bend in the final lap, while in third place and gaining on second I overcook it and crash at about 33mph (about 53kph).

  • Yes, I was fine, just a few scratches on my left arm where I caught the video recorder unit which was mounted to the side of the fairing. The dogcam HQR2 recorder survived the crash due to it being well made

The bike was fine too although the fairing was scuffed up. I did some temporary repairs with gaffer tape and zip ties to get be back on the road for the other races but I am now cutting out and replacing some of the fairing panels to restore it to as new condition.

  • Glad you are OK.

Cause? Fairing touched the pavement taking traction from the wheel?

Is the aerodynamic gain worthextra weight?

    What about crosswinds?

    Thank you.

  • @CDickFly These type of bikes would not be legal in the tour de france recumbents are not allowed. It is a pity because they are faster.

  • You are very good in time and from one second to another the things changes with a bad crash... OUCH!!!

What do think about an tricycle, an example like mine, that cannot tilt any way.

  • That was RAD!

Excellent crash (now that I know your OK).

Sorry about your Coroflute. But hey, it's cheaper than glass. Hope the Fujin alright.

    Great stuff.

  • For Future reference, any rider going maybe a little bit too quick into a corner and crashing like that has "Lee'd it"

as in Sandro "Lee'd it on the 1hr " !

  • Cool stuff if you and the bent are OK

  • Lee... dude, your flying. Cornering on this bike is more frighting thant on a open bike (like my Nazce Fuego). Everything add's up to make it feel like your going 100 km/h. In the corners your hanging almost 45 degrees (or more). The crash is spectaculair and I'm glad your okay.

I forgot my bulletcam, to bad... I thought of it when I arrived in Tilburg. Did'nt have any place to put it anyway, but ducttape does wonders.

  • Lee, I am glad you were ok. That video is AMAZING. I looked at a ton of pictures first and it really helped to keep track of the bikes. I am very impressed how well the Coro Fujin performs with you as the engine. Great work.
