A pod of about 250 Spinner Dolphins call Midway Atoll home. Each day they enter the lagoon to rest after an evening spent out in the ocean hunting. The Midway pod has had small dolphin groups from both Kure Atoll to the West, and Pearl & Hermes to the East occasionally join them for months at a time. Midway these days has relatively little boat traffic so an encounter like the one shown in this video is infrequent, and that is good since the dolphins need this daytime "down" time in the safe waters of the atoll so that they will be able to forage and avoid predators throughout the night.
