No matter what side of the war, Dresden was and is a tradedy. It will never be the same despite the rebuilding. Blame can be spread all around to include the post war communist ideology, Stalin, Hitler, Sir Arthur Harris and to some extent America (although we didn't firebomb Dresden). May the Dresden of Feb 12th 1945 rest in peace. She is gone forever.

I don't agree. It's only a matter of money. It's absolutely possible to rebuilt the whole city exactly as it was. But architects, politicians don't want it, no matter what 99% of the people think. Bombing is appalling, Harris was an evil murderer and an uneducated bureaucrat, but the real problem is modern architecture.
