I moved my elliptical machine from my bedroom to the garage yesterday - ever since, it has started producing a loud creaking noise. I cannot seem to find anything wrong with the belt etc - any help to resolve this would be great - thanks !

  • unfortunately not yet - I thought it may be an issue with the floor not being level - so I moved the machine around a bit and the noise has got worse i.e. it starts at a very low speed now as well.. So there may be some connection with whether the floor is level or not but I am still investigating

  • Did you get this fixed? I have a 5.21 I just bought, It worked great the past 3 days and now when I just went to get on it , I hear a VERY similar sound. help!!!

  • I had the same problem, only I used a clean toothbrush to clean and then apply the silicone. The problem went away immediately.

  • Then after brushing the belt for about a minute, spray some silicone spray(with the long tube-like sprayer) onto the belt as someone is slowly riding the machine. Noise gone! May need to repeat every few months. No change whatsoever in performance of machine. Just no more annoying noise!

  • Okay, I just fixed my own machine with this EXACT problem. It's not the bearings, the leveling, etc. It's the belt on the left as you look at the machine fom behind. Don't believe me? Just take a bent hangar and lift the left belt slightly as someone is using the machine. The noise disappears. To fix the noise, take a small, stiff metal wire brush, bend about two inches of the brush 90 degrees at the end. Have someone ride the machine while you carefully lift the belt with the brush

  • same here. Mine was just slightly unlevel and making a bad creaking noise. Adjusted it in the back and presto - no noise at all!

  • Mine just had the same problem after I moved it. It was just not level. I put my my spirit level across the midsection under the pedals and tweaked the height adjustements on the back. The noise went away with the slightest adjustment.

  • Any ideas yet? I too just moved mine and now have the same problem. At first only when someone was on it, now even if you turn the pedals by hand without being on the machine (but not as loud).

Any insights would be very appreciated

  • did you find the problem? I just moved one and it started the same thing.
