Through the wind and the trees, the lands of make believe you'd

I don't remember a day when I let everything change
I thought I'd always known best
But you looked into the sun and I watched you become
Just so much brighter than anyone

When you turn to leave it brings me so much pain to watch you go and
Somewhere between all the birds and the bees and all our make believe
And the wind in the trees you became everything to me"

When I opened my eyes I did not recognise the look on your face
And well there used to be days when we had nothing to say
But this silence now is not the same.

Then you said "Your whole life is a lie, your stars will never shine and
Your sun was never that bright, well maybe I don't have time
To see the world through your eyes"

And I said "But all the birds and the bees, the tiny shiny things in
Your eyes when you looked at me
Did they mean nothing at all?"
I set myself up to fall

I opened the door just as you walked away
"Please won't you stay," you'd hear me say.

when the record companies come calling (and they will; they WILL), make them wait. make them sweat it out for a while. don't take the first thing that is thrown at you; wait. wait until you get the deal that you want, that gives you the control over your creativity that you deserve.

do not sell out. you are worth more than that.
