By the time of statehood the majority of the population was from the mainland and the only choice given to the people was statehood or territory (under martial law) and was not given the choice to deny statehood which is supposed to happen thats why it is invalid that hawaii is a state.
I'm sure if it was up to the native Americans they would want us to go back to Europe but that is not how it works if Hawaiians want their independence back they would have to over throw the government and thats never going to happen.
If I remember correctly, Native Hawaiians made a petition but it wasn't .. I think received or something like that and even a bit after the overthrow tried to get the Kingdom back. Not 100% sure since I haven't studied that much into Hawaii. But you can always ask around.
more Chamorros need to watch this and come to realize that the upcoming Military Build Up on Guam and the CNMI will have all the negative results just portrayed.

But my question is, where were the Native Hawaiians when the legislature voted for statehood? Why didn't they organize?
