From Wikipedia:
The Vigra transmitter frequency is 630 kHz with a power of 100 kilowatts, which can be received at night in much of Europe.
The service was shut down on June 30th, 2011, and the 232 m high antenna will be taken down on September 8th, 2011 with help from the Royal Norwegian Armed Forces using explosives. The plan is to blow the support cables in the north end, making it fall towards south.

All these perfectly good towers are being pulled down, and we will live to regret it in years to come when internet/satellite has major outages!

@Krellan Yes it is sad. I prefer to see towers go up- not come down. A well constructed tower is a thing of beauty.
