  • Hi chox2001, if Im a but short of work I make something that interests me, I sell the wrought iron jig sets to people that want to have go at fabricating, start with small and light items , then progress to making something like the rocking chair it's the next up , it's the same basic bending method only heavier, if you can make a unique object and will last a lifetime it's worth the effort, yes it's my trade, thanks to everyone for the comments dave.

  • Nice shop! Looks like a really comfortable chair to sit in on a nice summer day with tea and a good book!! Do you have any tips on how to make the pairs of parts symmetrical? I have an idea you do it pretty much "by eye" with a lot of experience thrown in...

Thanks for posting. Roy Lewis Atlanta, Georgia USA

  • @rlewis1946 Hi Roy, bend the first piece of steel to the shape you require, then bend the next piece and lay it on top until you achieve the shame shape, make 2 sides, then add the centre pieces and join the 2 halves together, but before you fully weld it make shure it's the right shape, it maybe too high or too low, you might have to break the tacks ( small welds ) and alter it, it's all trial and error until you've made your first item
