@1kufanatic Sorry, I didn't "dissect" his song... What I heard, is what I heard screaming out at me. As stated earlier I know nothing about KU. Well, if he produced this, than he's responsible for it sounding fake. I was born in '55 and have played drums and sang since I was a wee lad. Won't claim to be a pro, but I know what I hear. This song IMHO is overly digitized & produced. If you don't like that, bite me!  I like natural music not digitized music. Like what u want! Thorpie is King!

@scojoseattle - What you may have overlooked in dissecting Keith's version he would have produced it ... You may not be aware that KU produces all his music, he also puts songs together where he plays ALL the instruments - check out his cd's - So perhaps the vocals your questioning could very well be Billy Thorpe's ... Have you listened to Billy Thorpe's version ??? But hey, regardless Keith Urban has done a superb job, vocally and instrumentally and as an Aussie, that song is #1 - KU TOO!!!

@1kufanatic My friend, I mean no disrespect to anyone. This recording is WAY OVER PRODUCED. Frankly the back up isn't even a pure human voice. The lead is. Listen to a live version by Keith, I really know nothing about him, but my ears know music. Listen to the nuances of back up vocals and you'll hear they are all a little different. Here, back up vocals are digitally mirror images and probably have little origin in a human voice. Blame the producers not Keith. Also reread my comment.

Great song ! Decent enough cover by Keith... Unfortunately IMHO, I has been WAY over produced. How much of it is real instruments and voices? The background vocals sound like a 2008 Mellotron. Lot of the instruments sound synthisized. I have no doubts real musicians were used, and could have done better and sounded more spontaneous. The producers feel the need of absolute control and destroy subtle nuances of the human musician. I'd be interested in Keith's opinion of this production..

This actually doesn't suck.... I guess I figured it would be an over the top, Jelly-with-lollies-in-it cover but Keith has pretty much nailed it. A little smoother and more country-ish vocally than the great Billy Thorpe but Keith is probably less toasted. Maybe.
