Please activate the HD function(720p) before watching the video or watch it with a larger type player in 480p! This in order to avoid serious sound distortion (as YT has reduced sound quality and does not activate HD or HQ playback automatically).

"Have you met miss Jones?" is one of my favourite Rodgers & Hart songs. It was written for the musical comedy "I'd rater be right" in 1937. Many versions exist ranging from Frank Sinatra to Robby Williams.... The song has also been used frequently in movies (most famously in Bridget Jones's Diary).

This is a lovely version recorded by Carroll Gibbons and his orchestra. Gibbons was an American born musician who made his career primarily in Britain.
More information on Gibbons can be found here :

The video shows women in England during the Second World War. England was the first country to draft women into service - they could either join the armed forces or work in factories.... So these video is dedicated to the many anonymous "miss Jones'"....

  • Carroll Gibbons arrangement and his piano playing is sublime - for me its the way his piano playing almost plays with the beat of the music, sometimes before and sometimes after the expected beat. Wonderful. This is THE definative version of this song

  • Ein tolles Orchester, dass ich bisher noch nicht kannte. Vielen Dank für diese Neuentdeckung. Toll in welch guter Qualität diese Platten erhalten sind. Herzlichen Dank!

  • Wunderbar, danke
