First Person: Original Balloon Boy From 1964

Calif. contractor Dan Nowell says the Colo. balloon boy story brought back memories of a 1964 incident. The then 11y/o boy got caught in a rope holding a hot air balloon and was lifted 3,000 feet into the air in front of a horrified crowd. (Oct. 21)

Why is this news? We have 2 wars in the Middle East. The dollar on the edge of collapse. A nation wide unemployment rate of 15%+

Yet, regardless of all that we find time to talk about a publicity stunt.

I was about 12 when 1st seeing a picture on the front page of the local newspaper of Dan Nowell and the balloon incident. Also later that year I had a chance to watch the To Tell The Truth show on tv that had a followup to that incident. I had forgotten about that incident for quite awhile until the news this week brought back the story of Dan Nowell.

okay you know what... there was never another baloon boy! This man was the only one. He would be considered a baloon boy, had the boy gone up in the actual baloon. He is the HOAX baloon boy. :)

I'm saying it's not news to ME... I don't give a crap about the balloon boy... but I'm not telling people it's not news. Let them make up their own minds as to what is and what isn't news.

People like you, and you seem to be a thinking guy, can find all the news they want about the position, condition and realities of the world... Some people need a bit of fluff every now and then.

You're saying it's news, and then calling it fluff! Which is it? It's one or the other, but they cannot be the same.

But you're right, people like me shouldn't do news. Showing the reality of our current position in the world, and the realities of our world, would hurt too many people accustomed to this garbage.
