one video?
-
is that zakk wylde playing ? :D
-
dave mustaine?

It IS downstrokes but i think people will choose to alternate pick because James Hetfield can downstroke like a fucking monster! xD
-
he dosent hold that second riff for long enough before the three power chord slides
-
downpicking is used to make the riff sound heavier, try it and you'll see.
-
@Thrasher5760 why dose picking mater anyway it will still sound the same
-
yeah, hetfield plays this riff (like many of his) using only dwonstrokes, you are right ...so what ? If someone wants to play it with alternate picking ? Is that such a crime ?
-
You all need to do you're research a little bit. This is Curt Mitchell playing here. He is a legendary guitarist who is skilled. If I could take lessons with this dude I would take it extremely serious.
master of puppets is NOT I REPEAT NOT alternative picking it is all downstrokes hammett said so himself in guitar world magazine

@ari77o If you can make it sound right, it doesn't matter if you pick with your ears. What's with you 'purists' anyway? If something's not done EXACTLY like the original, then it suddenly sucks?
The reason James only does downstrokes isn't because he's 'OMGTEHBEST', it's because he's self-taught and didn't know any better starting out. It works for him, sure, but it's far from being the only method of playing thrash.
If you couldn't see the video, you wouldn't even know it's alternate picking.
