    I am in tears every time I listen to this song, it is the greatest national anthemn of all and I am Scottish.

    I agree with RadicalWhig, it is NOT only a song for France, it is a song for the world, a song for those who love liberty, democracy, freedom and social justice.

    Jesseye Norman sang La Marseillaise atop the last float in the Bicentennial Parade, 14 July 1989 on the Champs Elysees. Her only musical accompaniment was African drummers, pounding the base rythym while Jesseye's powerful voice provided the treble. Where can I find a CD or DVD of her performance on that immemorable occasion? J'ai ecoute la grande voix de Jesseye Norman qui chante La Mareillaise dans la file du 14 julliet 1989 en Paris. Il y'a un disc (CD o DVD) de cette enorme programme? Merci.

    Tout le monde n'est pas d'accord pour dire que la déclaration des droits de l'homme est le fruit le plus important des Lumières.

    Les principes de gouvernement constitutionnel, d'égalité *devant la loi* etc sont beaucoup plus importants.

    Si vous aimez Jessye Norman écoutez plutôt sa Sieglinde.
