This wonderfully haunting blues was recorded in New Orleans in 1950 at a jam session arranged by Dr Edmund Souchon. This piece allows the band to solo individually with great effect. As well as George's beautiful playing there is some real earthy trumpet by Elmer Talbot (George said Talbot was his favourite trumpet player). Lawrence Marrero gives a lovely plaintive banjo solo. Marrero was the manager of the band at this time and dealt with all the bookings. Also Alton Purnell pno, Jim Robinson tbn, Joe Watkins dms.

  • Beautiful music, wolfie, thank you, don't think I'd heard this one before.

  • Beautiful. Reminds me of Burgundy St. I love it.

  • George could not read music, but what an artist!

  • I have the 10" LP of this session. Talbert is superb - better than Kid Howard to my ears. Sadly he died very soon after this session.
