This is a very nice and very rare version of Mr Monroe's Rawhide.

The info I have is that it was recorded on 20/06/1966 at Tex Logans home in Madison, New Jersey.
There are quite a few well known musicians there and apparently they played untill 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning. Around 54 songs in total with different musicians at different times during the evening.

Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys with:
Peter Rowan - guitar
Don Lineburger - banjo
James Monroe - bass
Gene Lowinger - fiddle
Tex Logan - fiddle
Richard Greene - fiddle

Some or all of the above musicians played during this song

  • @JoeyAce oh yeah -- oops!

  • @JimmyDeLocke

Your chords are correct, but the Roman Numerals are not.

    Should be 3 6 2 5

    aka III VI II V

    GREAT TRACK! THANKS !

  • @1RamTough It's a III-II-VI-V bridge. Rawhide is in C, so that translates to E7-A7-D7-G7

  • Whats the chords for the shuffle?

  • Who plays banjo on this? Its amazing. OIt sounds like Brad (Bill) Keith

  • Not to disparage the banjo player on this tr4ack, who is over the top, as well.
