However, if you want to see what prompted me to finally launch Oath Keepers, there are several posts on this blog that show my thinking.

Back in 2006 I wrote several scathing criticisms of the Bush Administration's absurd and dangerous claims of nearly unlimited executive "war" powers. Those articles built on my research at Yale Law School (where I won the Miller Prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights).

One of the most common refrains I get from Obama supporters is "where were you when Bush was violating the Constitution." Well, I was right here. Read this:"

OATH KEEPERS is a non-partisan association of Military, Veterans, and peace officers who will honor their oaths to defend the Constitution, will NOT just follow orders, will stand for liberty, and will save the Republic, so help us God. Our motto is:

"Not on Our Watch!"

SUMMARY LIST OF ORDERS WE WILL NOT OBEY:

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people

3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as unlawful enemy combatants or to subject them to military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a state of emergency on a state.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.

6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.

7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to keep the peace or to maintain control.

9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.

10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

@1Makyo Of course all you say is true, but the fact is Obama is just a puppet. The Ruling Elites who control both political parties and pretty much everything else tell him what to do. The scenario you outlined is really their plan and he will just comply. It doesn't mater who is in his position, this plan will continue to move forward. In one sense it is like I said and he is a Dictator, but in another very real sense he is just a puppet. Tragic for We The People either way.

@steve0281 I would have no problems with an LDS president. I have some reservations about Romney.

I used to sell garments at JC Penney's in Vegas. I dated twin girls, Marilyn and Carolyn, mmmm Leavitt or Bunker, can't remember, long long time ago, on condition that i didn't tell the other twin i dated her sister.

I looked into the Church for myself, and read some or most of the BOOK OF MORMON, but then I read the female English professor's biography of Joseph Smith and that spoiled it for me.

@1Makyo I don't think it will be the generals that do it. They're too political. It will be the younger, more ideal set that steps in. Thanks for the kind words. People do all sorts of things for love. Give us (the LDS) a chance again. If you have any questions, just ask. In the meantime, remember that Joseph Smith saw Socialism and recognized it for what it is: from Satan, himself!

@steve0281 We can certainly hope the military would arrest this communist. I am USNA oriented but doubt the strengths and loyalties of our generals and admirals nowadays. I wish a coup had already occurred.

I looked at your page and found it to be interesting. I have been to a ward and a stake meeting in Vegas where I lived for some years. Raised in the Methodist Church, reverted to Islam when I re-married at age 32. I am sort if a Jack Moslem if you know what I mean.

@1Makyo I agree that is what he would like to happen, but what he needs is for the right to rise up in response to the "occupy" movement. If they don't, then he won't have just cause to try something like that. If he does try something like that, I hope the military removes him from office.

@steve0281 Things ARE starting to unravel for Obama and company. The economy sucks. Holder sucks. Solyndra sucks. These communist demonstrations suck. I expect Obama to move up his itinerary to "fundamentally transform" America, and to redistribute the wealth by causing enough unrest on the streets to call for Martial Law. He will test the waters to see how Americans react to Martial Law. If we don't react he will boldly move forward and do as much damage as he can to capitalism, which he hates
